Imelda completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology in Ireland where she worked in both the public and private sector before moving to Sydney, Australia in 2003. She continued to work with a whole range of clients in Sydney, providing individual face to face and telephone counselling as well as group training and development before moving recently to the Central Coast.
Imelda has extensive experience in working with clients from all walks of life. Imelda follows a person centered approach and while uses evidence based practice such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, she also draws on her training in Gestalt, Mindfullness and Biodyanamic Psychotherapy. Imelda sees people with a whole range of issues including anxiety, depression, adjustment, life and work stresses, grief and trauma. Imelda has worked and trained extensively both in Ireland and Australia with the specific issues facing First Responders, such as Police and Firefighters, and other people faced with critical and potentially traumatic incidents. Furthermore, Imelda has an interest in woman's health issues, all aspects of fertility, pregnancy and post natal depression. Imelda is experienced in working with early childhood issues including child sexual abuse and has specifically trained in adoption, searching and reunion.
